|Help homeless dogs.
Thousands of stray dogs around the world spend their lives dodging traffic on dirty, crowded streets. It’s a long way from the home comforts enjoyed by our pets.
Mange is rife and many of the dogs have untreated, open wounds. Rabies and Parvo virus are real and deadly threats.
The dogs spend much of their time searching for food – relying on the scraps people throw out to survive.
Many die an early, painful and undignified death; puppies born onto the streets may survive just days.
WSPA - together with our member society, Blue Paw Trust, and the Colombo Municipality Pound - have launched a five-year programme to help stray dogs. Two mobile clinics are already out on the streets of Colombo, Sri Lanka, sterilising, vaccinating and treating owned and homeless animals. We’re also spreading the important message of responsible pet ownership.
• £25 could help us vaccinate 50 dogs against rabies
Ultimately, we want all dogs to have a home and an owner. So we’re running education workshops with the Blue Paw Trust to encourage local people to take better care of their dogs and avoid them becoming strays in the first place.
You can also make a donation by calling our Supporter Services team on 0845 0777 500 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm).
Your donation will help protect stray dogs and other suffering animals from a lifetime of cruelty.
